Victoria and Albert Museum

The Victoria and Albert Museum is the world's prominent museum of decorative arts and design. It was established in 1852 and called after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The museum is sponsored by Department for culture, media and sport. Entry was free since 2001. Its permanent collection includes over 4.5 million objects. 

The collection includes artifacts of thousands of richest cultures like North America, Europe, North Africa and Asia from ancient times to modern day. The museum represents more than 3000 years of human creativity. 

This consists of the Medieval Renaissance galleries, best British galleries that represent the history of Britain through art and design, glass, ceramics, textiles, silver, costumes, ironwork, furniture, jewellery, medieval objects, prints, sculpture and drawings. And also the museum comprises world’s largest collection of post-classical sculpture, Italian Renaissance items.

Apart from the above the Victoria and Albert Museum runs temporary exhibitions, special events and programs.

Prices

Admission to the museum is free.

Charges are collected for the special exhibitions and events. 

Open Close time

Open daily 10.00-17.45, Friday 10.00-22.00.

Closed 24, 25 and 26 December.
