Tier 5 - Youth Mobility Scheme Visa

An individual can apply for a Tier 5 (Youth Mobility Scheme) visa if he:

• is from Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Monaco, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Republic of Korea, or is a British overseas. citizen, British overseas territories citizen or British national(overseas).

• is over the age of 18 and under 31 years of age at the time of application.

• want to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years.

• has  £1,890 in savings.

An individual cannot apply if he has:

• children living with him.

• children who are financially depended  on him.

• already been in the UK under this scheme or in the former 'working holidaymaker' category.

The applicant can apply for a visa up to 3 months before the date he wishes to travel to the UK and may expect to get a decision on his visa within 3 weeks. An applicant will be given a visa to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years. It is a relatively cheap visa application and is often one of the quickest to process. It is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity so an individual must grab it before he turns 31 years of age. 

Fees

The application cost for this visa is £225.

Documents required

• An applicant needs to provide the following while applying for this visa:

• A current passport sized photograph.

• A current and valid passport or another travel ID.

• Bank statement stating the required savings.

• His tuberculosis (TB) test results if he belongs to a country where taking this test is compulsory.

Dos and Don'ts

An individual can :

• Study: he will need an Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate for some courses.

• Work in most jobs.

• Set up a company and be self employed, as long as his premises are rented and his equipment is not worth more than £5,000 and he doesn't have any employees.

An individual can't:

• Work as a professional sportsperson, doctor or dentist in training- unless he can prove that he qualified in the UK.

• Extend his stay.

• Get public funds.

• Bring family members on his application- they must apply separately.

At the end of the 24 months of your stay in the UK, you will have to leave the United Kingdom and return to your home country. If you wish you can apply for other kinds of visa to come back to the UK, but you cannot apply for the Tier 5 (Youth Mobility) visa again.
