The Royal Academy of Music Museum

The museum is considered as the oldest conservatoire in Britain. It was formerly identified as the York Gate collections. This is a museum of musical instruments and artefacts. 

The museum has three permanent galleries. The galleries cover the instruments, subjects like string instruments from 16th century. 

The museum consists of important collections like artworks including paintings, instruments, sculpture, prints, memorabilia, drawings, manuscripts, scores, letters and performance materials.

Apart from that, the collection includes the history of the Academy, student registers, prize boards, concert programs, certificates, commemorative photographs, medals and many more. 

The gallery is an important object to the composers, performers, scholars, instrument makers musical and for other relevant subjects.

In addition to the permanent galleries the museum conducts the annually changing temporary exhibitions, workshops, lecture-recitals, seminars, special events and family activities.

Free to enter the museum.

Open Close Time

Open Monday to Friday: 11.30 am – 5.30 pm.

Saturdays: 12.00 pm – 4.00 pm.

Closed Sundays, public holidays and the month of December.
