Horniman Museum and Gardens

The horniman museum is established in 1901 by the Victorian tea trader, Frederick Horniman. Many of the objects those were included in original collection is still displayed. The museum has a collection of 350 000 items.

It is regarded as the treasure of the South London. The collection of the museum comprises the internationally important objects of anthropology, natural history and musical instruments. This is very famous for the gigantic overstuffed walrus, the beautiful gardens, café and the acclaimed aquarium. 

The aquarium is opened in 2006 for the young children in order to easily see the displays like tropical Coral reefs and the British pond life. Required to have a small annual pass charge to enter the aquarium. 

The museum offers various special exhibitions, festivals, concerts, workshops, shows and activities.

Free to enter the museum. 

Entry of the Garden is also free. 

Chargers are collected for major temporary exhibitions and for the aquarium.

Museum Open Close Time

Open daily: 10.30am - 5.30pm.

Close on 24, 25, and 26.

Café Open Close Time

Open daily: 9.30am – 5.30pm, last time for hot food is 5.00 pm.

Garden Open Close Time

Monday - Saturday: 7.15am – sunset.

Sunday & Bank holidays: 8am – sunset.

Close on 25 December.
