Goldsmiths Hall

Primarily known as a grade I building, Goldsmiths Hall is situated at the junction of Gresham Street and Foster Lane. It is serving its routine as the assay office, and it has been headquarter of the Goldsmith Guild in London, along with Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. This company is into action from 1339, and the current building is the third hall.

It is hard to find any information about the first halls, except that the second hall was built after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Later, the second hall was demolished in 1820s. None other than Philip Hardwick designed the third hall, which stands erect now. This is a detached hall and it currently occupies a whole block.
