Chertsey Museum

The Chertsey Museum is opened in 1965 in the old TownHall. The museum is called the local history museum in Regency townhouse and it was run by volunteers and was run by Chertsey Urban District Council.

The collection includes history of the Runnymede area, fine art and decorative art, local clocks, local archaeology history of Chertsey Abbey, documents and photographs that social history include, furniture, ceramics and the Magna Carta story.

The museum displays women’s wear from 1960s to the modern days those have been selected from the Olive Matthews collection. 

The staff of the museum comprises with full time Curator, part time Costume keeper, full time Education Officer, six part time Museum Assistants and also the supported volunteers.

Open Close Time

Tuesday to Friday: 12.30 pm – 4.30 pm.

Saturdays: 11.00 am – 4.00 pm.

Closed on Sundays and Mondays

Open other times by arrangements. 

Open for research facilities: Wednesdays and Thursdays: 12.30 to 4.15pm.

Saturdays: 1.15 to 3.45pm.
