Tourist Visitor Visa

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

An applicant must meet the following requirements to qualify for this visa:

• He must be able to prove that he only needs to visit the UK for a short period of not more than 6 months.
• He must intend to leave the UK after the end of his visit and must be able to prove that he can afford the cost of return or onward journey.
• Must show that he has sufficient funds to maintain and accommodate himself in the UK without working and taking help from the public funds.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

Documents required by an applicant for this visa are as follows:

• A current passport or another valid travel identification.
• A passport sized coloured photograph
• If employed:  A letter approving leave from the employer, this letter  must includes details about employment, salary, position etc.
• If self employed: Evidence of business activities and financial credibility.
• Evidence of travel plan: hotel booking, flight booking etc.
• Bank statement showing the required savings.

HOW LONG CAN ONE STAY?

The maximum an applicant stay in the UK on this visa is for 6 months. However if the initial visa is for less than 6 months one may apply to extend his visa for a maximum total of 6 months.

WHAT AN INDIVIDUAL CAN'T DO ON A TOURIST VISITOR VISA?

A visitor under this visa must not:
• Intend to study in the UK.
• Intend to use public funds.
• Intend to take business, sports or entertainer visitor activities.
• intend to receive private medical treatment during his visit.
• intend to marry or register a civil partnership.
